The southern most portion of the proposed modeled NS in the NONE District starts at the Mississippi River and the interchange with the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPBR). Other modeling considerations include the NOPBR line east/west along Mississippi River, Governor Nicholls St. Wharf / Esplanade Avenue Wharf – Siding, TCI Trucking – Housed inside Governor Nicholls St. Wharf, French Market Station (RTA Red Line Street Car Line), ITM Building, Canal Street, Esplanade Avenue, and N. Peters Street.
An overview of the NS system track in the NOLA area is displayed below:

This inset map includes the following points of interest, which also serve as proposed Layout Design Elements (LDE’s).
LDE – Seabrook Bridge – MP NO 190.6 SEABROOK BRIDGE drawbridge
Double track bascule bridge, the Seabrook Railroad Bridge is a bascule bridge in New Orleans, Louisiana running adjacent to the Seabrook Bridge. It is often confused with this vehicular bridge to the north, officially called the Senator Ted Hickey Bridge; therefore, it is commonly called the Seabrook Railroad Bridge, that now carries only trains across the canal. The bridge has a horizontal clearance of 79 feet (24 m) with unlimited vertical clearance when fully retracted.
The Norfolk Southern Railway’s Seabrook Railroad Bridge is located north of New Orleans on Lake Pontchartrain, on the lake (north) side of the Seabrook Sector Gate Complex, and the terminus of a part of the Gulf Intercoastal Waterway called the Inner Harbor-Navigational Canal (IH-NC), locally referred to as the Industrial Canal, that connects Lake Pontchartrain to the Mississippi River.
